Another Month Gone

May is gone and June has come in full force. It's already hotter than hell here on most days. If this is an indication, the summer is going to be horrible.

We went hiking again this weekend. We went to Oak Mountain this time. Tannehill only really has 2 hiking trails and we've done them both already. So we went out seeking new adventure. Our plan for the day was to drive up to the Peavine Falls parking lot, have lunch and head off to the falls. After spending some time at the falls, we planned on hiking the Blue trail with the ultimate goal of making a 5 mile hike. Each time we go hiking, we try to push ourselves a little farther and see what our limits are. We planned better this time, took plenty of water, energy foods and a small first aid kit just in case.

On the way up to the Falls parking lot we found a little semi secluded area with a picnic table with an awesome view of off the top of the mountain and decided to stop and eat. After lunch we headed on up to the parking lot and set off our our hike. We ended up going to the top of the falls first, we were going to hit the bottom part on our way back through. However, our oldest daughter wasn't feeling well so we decided to head on back to the car and maybe head home.

We ended up only hiking about 2 miles but man it was a rough 2 miles up and down parts of the mountain over rocks and tree stumps and roots. I wasn't absolutely positive of my ability to get back to the car. It was questionable at one point. That's when I took over the dog walking LOL. I thought maybe if I can't hack it, he'll pull me up.

At the end of the day, we were all still proud of ourselves for getting out there and doing what we did. We can't go again for at least 2 weeks due to prior commitments, but as soon as possible, we'll be out there again, pushing our limits once again.
