My America

In the last several months we have heard a lot about what America is, what it means and what's wrong with it. Now that the election is over, results being what they are, agree or disagree, I feel it necessary to voice what My America is.

In My America, hard work is rewarded. We work for what we get and we work hard for it. Those less willing to work, have less. This idea of "spread the wealth" is a joke. Why are those that work hard for their things/way of life going to be punished? Why would we reward those that won't work and/or only do as much as they have to to get by? People seem to think that re-distributing the wealth will make things better, more fair. Well, frankly people, life is not fair. Get off your ass and work for what you want, stop whining. You're getting your tears on my money.

In My America, companies that are ran by smart people and make smart decisions thrive. Those that are ran by idiots and make bad choices, fail. The People should not be handing out money to bail out those idiots. If they fail, so be it, they fail.

In My America racism exists. It exists in all forms. Black v. white; white v. black; Asian v. white; white v. Hispanic; Hispanic v. black, you get the point. It's not isolated to white on black anymore and yet that's all we ever hear about. Being different is what makes us such a great place, we all have strengths and weaknesses and if we stopped focusing on black v. white, we'd be able to balance each other out better.

In My America educating a child means something. The children are indeed the hope for the future. And yet these days, schools have to fight for every penny they get from the government to use in educating the children. Kids are going to school in buildings with mold; in trailer classrooms; with out of date books and technology. Parents have to buy supplies from paper to soap.

In My America "We The People" meant something. We The People are perfectly capable of making decisions for ourselves. We do not need big government telling us what to do, where to go to school, how to save for our retirement, what kind of jobs we are capable of doing, who we should marry, how many kids we have.

My America was founded on the backs of hard working people willing to put their lives on the line for what they believe in. We fight for what is ours. We do not back down to tyrants and terrorists. Soldiers volunteer to fight and die because it matters to be an American. They fight because they want to, not because they have to. When they go to war, those of us at home support them.

In My America we support our President. We do not trash him on International television. We might not agree with him, but that's okay, we have the right to not agree with him. However, we defend him and stand behind him against those that would tear our country apart by tearing down the government.

This morning, I was ashamed to be an American because I feel that so many of my brother and sister Americans fell for a handsome face and some very idealistic ideas with no foundation in reality. Tonight, I remember what being an American is and I am no longer ashamed. I am not happy, hopeful, or proud of our upcoming president. But I will stand by my Country. I have the right to not like the president, and believe me, I don't. However, I know, that My America will make a come back. We have been through tough times before and the next 4 years are going to put our mettle to the test, but we will overcome and come out better for it.
